Fracking and exploration can have a damaging effect on the environment. Considering we live in a world where climate change is top of the list in terms of social conscience, why would fracking be something we’re still willing to carry out? Well, in looking into this idea, ultimately it’s been ruled that Beetaloo exploration is safe and environment friendly.
Fracking is an old and tested practice, and because of this, a lot of rules and regulations have come into place to protect the surrounding lands and water of oil wells and drilling operations. There are more international practices than ever, meaning a local community never has to suffer with the potentially limited technology and/or knowledge of their own government or tradespeople in their area. And most of all, if gas cannot be extracted safely from the earth below, companies don’t tend to go down there!
More and more scientific enquiries are being carried out, with more than 12 months of research at a time. For environmental management concerns, it’s now a standard that detailed descriptions of fracking plans are put through.
Fracking really has been done safely and efficiently for the past 40 years in the Northern Territory. When you look back at a history like that, you can be sure that any future projects are going to be environmentally friendly, and keep the climate in mind at all times. Not to mention just how much more technology, compliance rules, and council guidelines we have in place these days!
